Toilet Paper Roll Pumpkin Pencil Topper

Your child will be the talk of the classroom when they show everyone their glitzy pumpkin pencil topper – made from little more than a toilet paper tube and a pipe cleaner! Here’s how it’s made:

Step 1:

Use a craft knife to cut a small X in the center of a milk jug cap. Slide a pencil up and through.

Step 2:

Mark all the way around the end of a toilet paper tube about ¼” from the end.

Step 3:

Cut spines in the tube all the way around. Mine were a bit less than a quarter inch thick.

Step 4:

Curl the spines up and around.

Step 5:

Slide the cut up tube over the lid and hot glue together.

Step 6:

Bend the spines up and around and hot glue them to the pencil. This part takes a little bit of time, but it’s worth it!

Step 7:

After the glue dries, paint with your favorite pumpkin color. I added a coat of glitter paint to mine! You may hot glue the pumpkin to your pencil, or keep it in place with a chenille stick wrapper on the top and bottom. I added a green eraser and chenille stick on top for my stem and vine.

Step 8:

Take your fabulous pencil to school and impress everyone!
