“Native” Placemats

If you are looking for a traditional touch to your Thanksgiving dinner, then you should go for native placemats. These placemats are not only fun to look at; they also capture the way the dinner table is set back during the times when Thanksgiving was first honored.

Native placemats are easy to make. All you need is a wide flat plate to serve as the mat, and underneath it you may tape feathers until its edges are fully covered. Flip the plate to the right side up, and it’s ready to use. You can also do the same with baskets and other woven dinnerware.
